Ambu® Cath 72hr Closed Suction System
The traditional method of endotracheal suctioning of a patient has been identified as a possible source of infection and can cause a significant drop in a patients arterial oxygen saturation when removed from the ventilator for suctioning.
Closed endotracheal suctioning can reduce airborne environmental bacterial contamination and subsequently reduce health hazards to the patient.
The Ambu Cath Closed Suction System is a single patient, multiple use design effective in decreasing the infection of lower respiratory tract and can reduce the mortality rate of nosocomial pneumonia.
Closed Suction System can eliminate the need to disconnect the patient from the ventilator during suctioning and can prevent arterial oxygen desaturation in patients, especially those with cardiovascular and pulmonary disorders.
One of the greatest advantages of Closed Suction Systems is there is only a slight reduction of PEEP during use. However it is important to use the correct close suction system size to enable air to flow between the catheter and the ET or TT tube and or tracheal wall. The outer diameter of the catheter should not exceed half the inner diameter of the ET or TT tube.
